A fresh confrontation is brewing within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as members recently expelled from the party move to convene an emergency meeting at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The development comes barely 48 hours after the National Elective Convention in Ibadan, where the party announced the suspension of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and other allies of the former Rivers State governor.
Despite their expulsion, a meeting notice issued on Monday by the factional National Secretary, Senator Anyanwu, directed members of the National Executive Council (NEC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT) to attend an emergency session scheduled for Tuesday.
The notice, sighted by Newsmen described attendance as “very important,” emphasising that crucial matters concerning the party’s current situation would be discussed.
This move signals what may become another major showdown between the two dominant factions jostling for control of the PDP’s national structure.
