Kano State’s NSCDC has taken decisive action against a group of suspected criminals after a violent spree in the Mariri area of Kumbotso Local Government. Eleven individuals were arrested following attacks on residents and property, authorities confirmed.
SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Corps in Kano, revealed in a statement that the arrests occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The suspects reportedly became aggressive after attending a local traditional festival, escalating into theft and assaults.
The gang did not stop at raiding homes. They also stormed a NSCDC outpost in Mariri, leaving one staff member injured in the office around 1:00 a.m.
The suspects, whose ages range from 18 to 29, include Idris Muhd, Abubakar Shuaibu, Sagiru Hassan Yusuf, Idris Muhammad Morata, Anas Rabiu, Yahaya Muhd Yahaya, Khalid Idris, Mohd Adamu, Muktar Auwal Muktar, Salim Muktar, and Saifullahi Nuhu. Authorities recovered six cutlasses and a pair of scissors from the group.
The Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, assured the public that the NSCDC is fully committed to dismantling criminal gangs and protecting public property. Investigations have been completed by the Corps’ Intelligence and Investigation Department, and the suspects are set to face prosecution in court.
The NSCDC reiterated its dedication to keeping Kano safe, tackling crime head-on, and safeguarding critical infrastructure from those intent on causing harm.
