Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has stated that she was never legally married to her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko, insisting that their relationship lacked legal backing.
In a statement shared via her Instagram page early Sunday morning, the actress admitted to struggling with drug use but claimed that the real cause of their fallout was the lawmaker’s alleged attempts to isolate her from her loved ones.
“Fine, I did drugs. So what? Is that even the issue between us? The moment we had a fight, you rushed to the public shouting ‘drugs, drugs, drugs,’ because you knew it would make a perfect story for the media,” she wrote. “You want to find a reason to arrest everyone around me so that I will have no one left beside me, no friend, no support, no safe place to turn to.”
Daniels further alleged that Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, seized her phones for weeks to prevent her from communicating with her family, adding that she was often confined to a room and described as mentally unstable whenever she expressed a desire to leave the relationship.
“Every problem we have had started when I no longer wanted you, whether sober or even high. Tell people the truth,” she added.
As of the time of filing this report, Ned Nwoko had not issued any public response to the actress’s claims.
