Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has assented to the ₦892 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill, officially signing it into law.

The governor signed the budget at the Executive Council Chamber, Secretariat, Ibadan, where he urged all relevant stakeholders to ensure strict adherence to the implementation framework to guarantee that the budget delivers meaningful impact to residents of the state.

Governor Makinde stated that his administration has consistently pursued realistic budgeting over the years, stressing that Oyo State is committed to strengthening internally generated revenue rather than depending solely on federal allocations for economic growth.

He disclosed that the state government may present a supplementary budget in 2026 if revenue inflows exceed projections, noting that such a development could push the total budget size to the ₦1 trillion mark.

According to the governor, the move would be aimed at accelerating development projects and expanding government interventions across critical sectors.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, described the prompt passage of the budget as evidence of the strong working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.

Ogundoyin added that the timely consideration and approval of the budget align with international best practices in public finance management and demonstrate a shared commitment to effective governance in the state.
