According to a press release by the State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyemade, the ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the iconic Mapo Hall Grounds in Ibadan, with proceedings set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
At the event, three prominent traditional titleholders will be formally crowned as Obas. They include His Royal Highness, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland; His Royal Highness, Oba Oyekola Babalola, SAN, the Ekarun Olubadan of Ibadanland; and His Royal Highness, Oba Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland.
Governor Seyi Makinde will present the Staff of Office to the newly elevated monarchs, symbolizing the official recognition of their status within the Ibadan traditional hierarchy.
This development highlights the ongoing evolution of traditional leadership structures in Ibadanland. According to the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Makinde administration has installed 12 kings and over 40 Baales since 2019, a record he described as unprecedented in the history of chieftaincy installations in Oyo State.
The ceremony is expected to attract dignitaries from across Nigeria, including traditional rulers, government officials, and members of the public.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Demola Ojo, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting unity, cultural pride, and inclusive development through continuous collaboration with traditional institutions.
