The Oyo State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents that proactive and robust security measures are firmly in place to maintain peace and order across the state.

In a press release issued on April 6, 2026, the Command stated that it is acting in compliance with directives from the Force Headquarters, with a renewed focus on crime prevention, rapid emergency response, and tackling emerging security threats.

As part of these efforts, the Command has intensified visibility policing, deploying patrol vehicles and operational assets to strategic locations across the state. This, according to the Police, has significantly improved response time to distress calls and incidents.

The Command also highlighted its continued collaboration with other security agencies through intelligence sharing and joint operations. A key initiative in this regard is the Joint Night Patrol, codenamed “Convoy Patrol,” which brings together multiple security agencies to strengthen coordinated responses to security challenges.

Emphasising the role of the public in effective policing, the Police said it has deepened community engagement, particularly with traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents of border areas. These engagements are aimed at ensuring timely reporting of suspicious activities and improving intelligence gathering at the grassroots level.

While noting that the security situation in Oyo State remains under control, the Command urged residents to stay vigilant and security conscious at all times.

The Police also warned against the spread of false or unverified information capable of causing panic, stressing that such actions would attract legal consequences. Residents were advised to rely only on official communication channels for accurate updates.

The Commissioner of Police in the state appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his continued leadership and support, while calling on residents to sustain cooperation with security agencies.

For emergencies, residents are advised to contact the Oyo State toll-free line 615, or reach the Police Command control room via 08081768614 and 09054133071 for prompt assistance.

The Command reiterated its resolve to remain professional and responsive in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities at all times.
