The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State, Rev. Elisha Olukayode Ogundiya , has called on Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and trust in God, regardless of the challenges they may be facing.
In his Easter message made available to journalists in Ibadan , the cleric encouraged believers to hold firmly to their faith, emphasizing resilience, unity, and a renewed commitment to the Christian mission.
He urged Christians to remain grounded spiritually, saying, “May I urge you to remain resilient in faith, fostering unity, demonstrating love to neighbors, and focusing on the mission of sharing the gospel.”
Rev. Ogundiya also stressed the importance of integrity and continuous spiritual growth, not only within the church but also among leaders in the wider society. According to him, trusting in God wholeheartedly—especially in difficult times—is essential, rather than relying solely on human understanding.
Highlighting the need for unity and love, he called on believers to forgive one another, maintain peace, and prioritise genuine care for others. He further encouraged Christians to stay mission-focused by actively spreading the message of Christ's resurrection through both words and actions.
The CAN chairman underscored the role of prayer and perseverance, urging believers to remain hopeful and committed despite personal or national challenges. He noted that this call is particularly relevant as the nation approaches another election season, reminding citizens to stay spiritually grounded during critical periods.
He also challenged Christians to demonstrate their faith through action, saying believers must “live the better way” by showing kindness, humility, and gentleness in everyday life.
Rev. Ogundiya explained that the Easter message is intended to uplift those who may feel overwhelmed or weary, offering reassurance of God's presence and purpose in trying times.
He concluded with a prayer: “God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.”
He urged Christians to reflect deeply on the significance of the resurrection as they celebrate Easter, drawing strength and hope from its message.
