The Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa The First, has been crowned and received his staff of office from the Oyo state government, through the governor, engineer Seyi Makinde.
The funfair event held at the Ancient Mapo field today, was witnessed by the sons and daughters of Ibadanland and the first citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While handing the staff of office to the new monarch, Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde said the king remains his father despite being the governor of the state.
He promised that the state government will give the New Olubadan all needed backings to achieve all his wishes for the land.
In his acceptance speech, The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa The First, appreciated governor Makinde and the people of Ibadan for their support so far, assuring that his reign will promote peace, love and unity among diverse peoples at all times.
Oba Ladoja, who appreciated President Tinubu for cancelling official engagements to attend his coronation, requested the support of the president to actualize Ibadan state during his time.
In his remarks, president Tinubu congratulated the government and the people of Ibadan for having a king like Arusa The First.
He recalled past relationship between him and Oba Ladoja and promised to give the New king a listening ear as at when due.
Present at the coronation ceremony were serving and past governors, Ministers, lawmakers, traditional rulers, men and women of timber and caliber such as the Okonlomo of Odua, Chief Dotun Sanusi, well wishers, among others.
