𝐎𝐲𝐨 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐲𝐢, 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐀𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧, 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐎𝐟 𝐎𝐘𝐒𝐈𝐄𝐂

The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of Dr. Babatunde Afeez Adeniyi as the new Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC). His confirmation came during Tuesday’s plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.



Also confirmed as members of the electoral commission are Chief Kunmi Agboola, Mr. Olanrewaju Emmanuel, Mr. Sunday Falana, Hon. Remi Ayoade, Mr. Olatunde Theophilus, Mrs. Adebayo Muriana, and Mr. Babatunde Ige.

Their appointments were ratified after the House adopted the report of the screening exercise presented by the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi. According to the report, all nominees demonstrated competence and provided satisfactory responses during their assessment.

Speaking with journalists shortly after his confirmation, Dr. Adeniyi expressed readiness to begin work immediately after inauguration. He assured the public that the next local government elections under his leadership would strictly adhere to all electoral laws and uphold the integrity of the process.

He also thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity to serve and appreciated the Speaker and members of the 10th Assembly for the confidence shown in the new OYSIEC team.

“We are grateful to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the Honourable Speaker for finding us worthy of this responsibility. Once inaugurated, we will hit the ground running to ensure the next election is conducted transparently and in full compliance with the law,” he said.
