The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party PDP deepened on Saturday as the opposition party announced the expulsion of former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike, factional National Chairman, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose.

The dramatic decision was taken at the partys Elective National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, where delegates gathered in large numbers despite the tension that has trailed the event in recent weeks.

The motion for their expulsion was moved by one of the founding fathers of the party and respected elder statesman, Chief Bode George and immediately seconded by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, receiving overwhelming support from delegates across the country.

According to resolutions adopted at the convention, the expelled members were found guilty of persistent anti-party activities and actions considered harmful to the unity and progress of the PDP ahead of its restructuring efforts.

In addition to Wike, Fayose, and Anyanwu, several other top ranking individuals were also expelled. They include:

Saturdays expulsion marks one of the most consequential disciplinary actions in the PDPs history. The party has been embroiled in months of internal disputes, factional battles, and competing power blocs trying to assert control.

With the removal of these prominent figures, especially Wike and Fayose who have played influential roles in recent political cycles, analysts predict a new wave of realignment within the PDP.

The conventions decision is expected to trigger reactions in the coming days, particularly from supporters of the expelled members, as the party attempts to chart a new direction ahead of future elections.
