The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for assenting to the 2026 Appropriation Bill, describing the move as a demonstration of effective governance and strong executive–legislative synergy.

The governor signed the ₦892.09 billion budget into law on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Executive Chamber, Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Speaking at the event, Ogundoyin said the 2026 budget was bold, inclusive and strategic, with priority given to sectors that directly affect residents’ welfare, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth development and environmental sustainability.

According to him, the timely assent to the budget, just days after its passage by the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly, underscores a shared commitment by both arms of government to fiscal transparency, service delivery and sustainable development.

“The speed with which this budget has been signed into law is fast becoming a tradition under this Assembly. It reflects our seriousness and alignment with global best practices, while ensuring that full implementation can begin from the first day of the new year,” the Speaker said.

Ogundoyin also praised members of the House for what he described as thorough scrutiny and patriotic diligence in the budget review process, noting that the final document reflects the aspirations of constituents across the state. He added that the Assembly would continue to carry out its oversight responsibilities to ensure that funds are properly utilized and translate into tangible benefits for residents.

The Speaker further acknowledged the governor’s responsiveness to legislative input, particularly on environmental concerns, welcoming the increased attention given to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. He said the House would support efforts to address indiscriminate waste disposal through legislation and oversight.

Ogundoyin expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for respecting the independence of the legislature and for supporting improved welfare for staff of the Assembly, assuring continued cooperation between both arms of government.

“With sustained synergy between the Executive and the Legislature, Oyo State is well positioned to pursue economic resilience and accelerated development in the coming year,” he said.

The 2026 Appropriation Law is expected to guide government spending and development initiatives across the state throughout the fiscal year.
