This is contained in a press released by Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade on Wednesday.
According to Prince Oyelade, the prosecution was initiated by the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) following an enforcement operation carried out on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in parts of Ibadan.
Those arraigned include Farinde Lawal, Akanji Kazeem, Abidemi Isiaq and ten others, who were brought before the Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Iwo Road on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. They are facing two counts of conspiracy and wilful damage.
As stated in the charge sheet, the defendants allegedly conspired to unlawfully damage road kerbs constructed by the Oyo State Government at Odejayi Area along Old Ife Road and New Gbagi Area, Ibadan. The offences are said to contravene Sections 516 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap 35, Volume II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding Magistrate granted them bail under strict conditions, ordering each defendant to produce two sureties, one a blood relation and the other a government employee. The government-employed surety must provide evidence of a minimum bank balance of ₦200,000, a valid two-year tax clearance certificate, and proof of ownership of landed property within the court’s jurisdiction.
The court adjourned the case to February 13, 2026, for further mention.
OYRLEA said the prosecution underscores the state government’s resolve to protect public infrastructure and ensure that acts of vandalism are addressed through due legal process.
