The Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Lere Olayinka, has reacted sharply to the expulsion of his principal, Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, describing the move as nothing more than a frivolous gathering in Ibadan.

Olayinka mocked the outcome of the PDP National Convention, calling it “Dirty December in November” and insisting that the meeting should be viewed as a social hangout rather than a serious political convention.

According to him, those who converged in Ibadan were “free to say anything after indulging in drinks,” arguing that their pronouncements carry no real weight. He suggested that the gathering had more elements of a party atmosphere than legitimate political decision making.

According to Lere, the party members who announced the expulsion were “intoxicated” in their “dirty December.”

He said, “They went to Ibadan to start dirty December in November.

“When people decide to start their own dirty December in November, one can’t but ignore whatever comes out of their mouths.

“They gathered in Ibadan to do party, enjoy themselves and intoxicated, they are free to say anything.”

Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and factional PDP National Chairman Samuel Anyanwu were expelled from the party over alleged anti party activities. Their expulsion was adopted unanimously by delegates after a motion moved by PDP elder statesman Chief Bode George and seconded by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.

However, the decision has been overshadowed by legal complications. A Federal High Court in Abuja recently halted the convention, ruling that the planned exercise violated the PDP constitution, the 1999 Constitution, and provisions of the Electoral Act.

Wike’s allies maintain that any convention held despite the court order is invalid, insisting that the Ibadan gathering is “a nullity” and should not be recognized.

In a separate move, the PDP National Working Committee suspended Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Okechukwu Osuoha, and Umaru Bature over similar allegations of anti party activities.

The Wike led faction says it has already filed an appeal and will continue to challenge the convention and its outcomes through legal channels.
